How to manage serious side effects: Serious side effects, such as gastroparesis (the stomach takes too long to empty), require medical attention. Changes in diet or exercise won’t help to manage these side effects.

Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea are common with GLP-1s. Other side effects may differ by drug, and the severity and duration of these side effects can often be influenced by the dosage of the medication.

But there is also a risk of adverse effects with long-term use of GLP-1s.
